Welcome to NEW EUGENE (written in English)
Why I start this weblog, "NEW EUGENE"
For about 10 years from 1998 to 2009, I managed a hobby Home Page and Weblog, called "the City of Eugene". The site had banch of my hobbies contents like cars, watches, movies, tennis, PC, travel, art, photography, business books, and favorite goods.
I enjoyed to made English pages ,at the same time, to maintain my English ability. By managing the English pages, There was a pretty good access from over the world.
Especially on pages "drive automobiles", it seems that there were few English-language websites describing the RX-7 (FD) or Accord US Wagon at that time as a personal hobby.
There was access not only from the United States but also from Australia and Russia.
Some times, I posted their cars' photes with their comments.
In addition, on pages "enjoy travel", a travel journal mail sent by a friend (American) who is traveling the world was posted on the site with her permit so that other friends could also view them.
By introducing excellent restaurants in one of my friends' article, “Kyo-onna's gourmet articles in Kyoto,” I realized the convenience of the website and the value of the English-language website.
Looking back, it might be that "the City of Eugene " had a function of the small and primitive SNS too.
In 2010, the work environment and living environment changed with the relocation, and due to the rise of SNS, I stopped using HP and blogs.
I started to using SNS as one of early adopters and was surprised by its convenience compared to HP and blogs.
But, I realized the its convenience was based on providing all the information in my smartphone such as contacts and photos to the SNS.
Then, I decided to withdrew from the point of privacy. (However, by the experience of Great East Japan Earthquake, I only have Twitter account for contact.)
However, the amount of thought and information I would like to share and the information widely increased day by day, and I felt that Twitter is too short to write, so I decided to start this weblog "NEW EUGENE".
Since it is an information network society now, the protection of personal information always comes first.
The contents of NEW EUGENE
The basic spirit remains unchanged, with the following focus on what I think about while enjoying my hobbies and interests, what I want to share, and what values have changed significantly over the last 10 years.
I also want to manage English pages to maintain my English skill, but since it is different from home pages, I would like to do trial and error considering how easy it is to read the weblog.

NEW EUGENE 開始の背景
1998年から2009年までのおよそ10年、"the City of Eugene"という趣味のHomePageとWeblogを運営していた。趣味のクルマ、腕時計、映画、テニス、PC、旅行、美術、写真、ビジネス書、お気に入りグッズなど多岐にわたり、自分が楽しんで作っていた事、英語力持続を目的に英語版ページも同時に作っていた事もあり、結構なアクセスがあった。
特にクルマと旅行ページでは、当時、個人の趣味でRX-7(FD)やアコードUSワゴンの事を記載した英文サイトはほとんどなかったらしく、アメリカのみならずオーストラリアやロシアからもアクセスがあり、相互リンクをしたりサイトを持っていない人たちには自慢の愛車を掲載し喜ばれたりした。また、留学時の友人（アメリカ人）が世界旅行をしている間に送られてくる旅行記メールを本人了解のもとサイトに掲載し、他の友人も閲覧できるようにしたり、京都出身の友人による「京都の裏の裏まで知り尽くした京女のグルメ記事」で名店を紹介したりすることで、Webサイトの利便性と英文サイトの効果を思い知った。思い返すと、小さなSNS機能も担っていたとも考えられる。
2010年には、転勤に伴い仕事環境・生活環境も変わり、SNSの台頭などからHPやblogの類はやめていた。
SNSはアーリーアダプターとして使い始めHPやblogとは異次元の高い利便性に驚かされる一方、その利便性は連絡先や写真など個人のスマホの中の情報を全て運営側に提供することで実現している事に気づき、プライバシー重視の観点から早々に撤退した。（但し、東日本大震災を経験し連絡用にTwitterだけはアカウントを継続。）
しかし、考えていることや広く共有したい情報は日に日に増えていき、Twitterの文字数制限では足りないと感じたことから、今回 blogでNEW EUGENE を始めることとした。
なお、現代は情報ネットワーク社会（表現が古いｗ）であり「個人」が特定される情報が拡散することは望まないので、自身を含め、個人に関しては周辺情報を含め最大限そぎ落とし、Webネームや個人を識別するためにイニシャルを使用するなど必要最低限としたい。（例外は、対象が有名人で氏名がオープンに公開されている、本人が公開を望むことを意思表示した場合くらい。）
NEW EUGENEのコンテンツ
基本的な精神は変わらず、以下を中心に趣味や興味のあるものを楽しみながら日頃考えていること、共有したいこと、この１０年で大きく変わった価値観などをつらつら書いて行こうと考えている。また、英語力維持のため英文記載もしたいが、HPとは違うので、どのように実現するかはblogの見やすさも考慮し試行錯誤していきたい。
